Alan W. Ostberg

Alan Ostberg passed away on September 27, 2022, at Westchester Medical following a heart attack at the age of 77 years old. He is survived by his loving wife, Marcia Ostberg, and two children, Marisa, and Michael. Alan was born in Buffalo, NY, where he grew up as the brother to 4 other siblings. Alan is an Army veteran who served in combat during the Vietnam War, where he received a Purple Heart. Alan worked as a taxi driver amongst other jobs after the war until he was a predominant figure in Hunts Point, NY, where he owned and operated a junkyard where he dismantled car parts and sold them.  Alan always put his family first and gave the term family provider a true meaning. No matter what situations arose throughout the day with the constant variables that never cease presenting themselves in life, Alan was always there with a solution for his family and friends. Alan’s service will be held at Ballard Durand Funeral Home from 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm on Wednesday, October 5th, and the Funeral Service will be held Thursday, October 6th at Gate Of Heaven Chapel at 11 AM at 10 West Stevens Ave Hawthorne, NY.
