Alan Kimmel

Alan Kimmel, a longtime resident of Millwood, NY passed away on November 26, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 69. Alan was born on July 27, 1949 in Brooklyn to the late Chanina Fischel and Giettel Ehrlich Kimmel. He was the General Manager of Catering and Sales at Lake Isle Country Club for over 30 years. He then continued with his passion for catering and worked at Greentree Country Club until last year. His passion and expertise contributed to his outstanding reputation and success. He was a people person who never lost his enthusiasm for planning and coordinating corporate and private events. He loved meeting and working with clients and developed many positive relationships throughout the years. He was an avid New York Sports fan. He rarely missed a Yankee, Knicks, or Giants game. You could hear him cheering them on as if he were part of the team. His love of sports was passed on to his children. He was a devoted family man who provided his wife and children with many of the things that he did not have as a young man. He shared his values and work ethics with his children and was so proud of their achievements. His love and commitment to his family was obvious to all. He was their role model and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his beloved wife, Holly (Ferdico), whom he married on October 26,1983. He was a loving and devoted father to his three children who he adored: Lauren Kimmel of Hartsdale, N.Y, Samantha Kimmel of New York, NY and Joshua Kimmel of Long Island City, NY. Brothers- Leo & Shoshana Kimmel of Boynton Beach, FL, David & Roberta Kimmel of San Francisco, CA and his sister- Blimi & Heshy Reichman of Brooklyn, NY. He also had a daughter from a previous marriage, Sari Kimmel of Ft Lauderdale, FL. Brother-In-Law Glenn Ferdico of Garrison, NY and his nephews Justin and Alex. A Funeral Service will be held at Hawthorne Funeral Home on Thursday at noon. Interment, Sharon Gardens Cemetery, Valhalla, NY to follow. Shiva will be held from 4 to 8pm at 11 Deer Ridge in Millwood at the family’s residence.
