Agnes T. Szabo

Agnes T. Szabo's adventures began early in her life. She landed on this Earth in Budapest, Hungary on November 7, 1952. At 4 years old, her father participated in the Hungarian Revolution, precipitating the family's emigration. A couple months in a refugee camp in Yugoslavia left a lasting imprint. Two school years in Belgium taught her French, which she treasured throughout her life. Then on to Pennsylvania for a while, and finally New York City.

Fiercely independent, Agnes graduated from Hunter College, set out on her own, dabbled in love, and started a career in pension consulting. Over time, her career in pension consulting grew to include APM and FLMI designations as well as the adjacent QDRO business.

A few years after the birth of her daughter Jennifer, Agnes moved to the suburbs of Scarsdale, then White Plains. An unshakable mother, she wholeheartedly shepherded her daughter through highs and lows, and on many overseas adventures. Travels spanned Europe, including the Mediterranean and Baltic, as well as St. Petersburg, Mexico and the Caribbean. Her multiple trips to Italy and her trip to Egypt several years ago were lifelong dreams come true.

Home ownership thrilled Agnes. Designing, gourmet cooking, gardening and knitting occupied her time at home. An avid reader, she was always learning about the latest discoveries in quantum mechanics and string theory, studying the oldest Egyptian hieroglyphs, or looking up the classics.

In retirement, Agnes piloted a plane, learned cheese-making, and continued her search for the very best of gourmet foods and the depths of human emotion. Always a soul searcher, Agnes was a teacher of gentleness and love. Now it is our job as her students to continue this message. Her partner John, daughter Jennifer, mother Theresa, brother Theodore, and her many other relatives in Hungary will continue her spirit.
