Adele Zucker

July 21, 1925 — July 6, 2016

White Plains

Born on July 21, 1925 Departed on July 6, 2016

Adele Zucker, passed away peacefully in her home in White Plains, New York on Wednesday July 6, 2016. She had battled cancer with dignity, grace, and humor for nearly 2 years. She was 2 weeks shy of her 91st birthday. Born and raised in the Bronx, on July 21, 1925 she was a proud alumnae of James Monroe High School, where her love for community involvement began. While a member of the Hebrew Institute of White Plains, she served on the board and the PTA. Adele enjoyed a 62 year career with the Jewish War Veterans Ladies Auxiliary of White Plains where she volunteered with love and pride through local, state and national levels. The highlight of those years was serving as National President of the organization, during which time she toured the nation and visited Israel. Those experiences fueled her with many stories that she entertained friends and family as one of the great raconteurs of the community. Her work continued locally with the Mayor’s office of Veterans Affairs; collaborating on memorial events for Memorial Day and Veterans Day in White Plains. As recently as 3 years ago, she gave a speech in honor of those who made the greatest sacrifice. That speech was delivered in the shade of the tree planted in the honor of her Husband, the late Lt. Col Morton H. Zucker (Ret.) who led the ceremonies there for decades. Adele is survived by her daughter, Rose, and her husband, Arthur Aglieco, of Brewster and her son Jeffrey Allan Zucker and his wife Holly Schiffer-Zucker of Venice, California, and her grandsons Jordan Aglieco, and Harry Owen Zucker. The funeral service will be held at 10am Friday, July 8, at Ballard-Durand Funeral Services, 2 Maple Avenue, White Plains, NY. Following the funeral service, interment will take place at Sharon Gardens Cemetery. Shiva will be observed at the Aglieco home, 801 Windsor Lane, Brewster, NY 10509 on Saturday night beginning at 7 pm; on Sunday from 1 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm and Monday from 1 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm.
