Frank W. Robinson, 87, of Westfield, NJ, White Plains, NY and Mt. Kisco, NY passed away peacefully on April 25, 2014.
Frank was born October 22, 1926 to James P. and Margaret Carey. He was the fourth of seven children. He graduated from Queens College in 1951 with a BA degree.
He served in the US Army, post war Berlin, from 1946 to 1949 with the Allied Control Authority in the 310th Infantry Company “H” and was elevated to an officer in the army as Staff Sergeant receiving notable commendations throughout his journey. While in the Army he developed a reputation as an amateur boxer and was known as “Kid Chocolate.”
After college, he joined Equifax Services Inc. (formerly Retail Credit Company) in 1951 starting as a Field Representative in their New York office and over the next two decades, he was the District Sales Manager for three increasingly large offices in Buffalo, Baltimore and Newark. In 1991, he retired as a Senior Vice President for National Life & Health/Claims Sales for NYC.
Frank was an avid collector of music, especially Frank Sinatra. His love of sports from youth coaching to playing golf and watching football and baseball carried over throughout his life.
He is predeceased by his wife, Grace M. Robinson.
He is survived by his former wife, Kathryn L. Robinson with whom he had four children: Gerard Robinson, Atlanta, Ga, Jimmy & Karen Robinson, Atlanta, Ga, Kevin & Cindy Robinson, Shelton, Ct and Laura & Tom Travers, Westfield, NJ, his seven grandchildren, Jamie, Jessica, Jim Jr. and Kathryn (Katie) Robinson, Kevin Robinson Jr., and Kelly and Sarah Travers along with five great-grandchildren; Avery, Luke, and Connor Podraza, and Sydney and John (Jack) Brouillard.
The family will receive friends at the Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, 2 Maple Ave., White Plains, NY on Wednesday, April 30, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Elmsford, NY on Thursday, May 1 at 10 am with burial following the service at Gate of Heaven in Hawthorne, NY.
