December 18, 1948 — May 17, 2012

Born on December 18, 1948 Departed on May 17, 2012

Vincent Eugene Johnson, affectionately known as "Vinny", "Butchie" or "Oodles" by family and friends, departed this life on Thursday, May 17, 2012. He was born in Port Chester, NY on December 18, 1948 to the late Vincent A. and Anna Mae (Crumbaugh) Johnson. Vincent attended school in Greenburgh, Yonkers, and then graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1966. While attending Mt. Vernon High, he was a star athlete in Track and Field where he set new records in various events, that remained in place well after graduation. He also loved to play basketball and softball.

Vincent married Billye Y. Hill in Mt. Vernon on June 1, 1968, and from that union of almost 44 years, Keisha and Kyle were born. In addition, anyone who knew Vincent would also say Diesel.

Vincent was employed by the United States Postal Service, in the Larchmont Branch, where he retired after 36 years of service. While at the Larchmont Branch, Vincent received numerous plaques and accommodations. Vincent also worked for Wykagyl Bus Company which was later bought out by First Student Bus Company for over 38 years. Vincent was a hard worker that never complained.

Vincent was preceded in death by his brother, Rodney E. Johnson and sister, Jacqueline M. Smith. He leaves to cherish the memory of a fulfilled life; his wife Billye, eldest son Darrin C. Foster, daughter Keisha A. Johnson, and son Kyle E. Johnson, a sister Elizabeth A. Johnson, Grand-daughter Taylor D. Foster, Daughter-in-Law, Father-in-Law, Sisters-in-Law, Brothers-in-Law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, God-daughter, and numerous extended family and friends.

Vincent's other loves and interest in addition to his family were jazz, sports, car racing, bowling, and a cold beer or stiff drink while playing cards or joking around with family and friends. Vincent's huge heart was a testament to the way he lived his life, always ready to lend a hand or an encouraging word for family, friends or anyone that he came in contact with. Vincent was a constant jokester that always had a way of bringing a smile or a laugh out of you.

Vincent was taken from us in a blink of an eye, but we have a life time of memories and laughs. He will be sorely missed but never forgotten.
